Texas gov. hopeful hits campaign trail with Obama-bashing rock star

Ted Nugent and Greg Abbott

The sun is threatening to set on the Lone Star State.  Texas politics has reached a new low with the state attorney general Greg Abbott welcoming rock singer Ted Nugent to hit the campaign trail with him.  Abbott is considered to be the front runner in the race for the GOP gubernatorial nominee after Gov. Rick Perry (R) announced that he will not be seeking a fourth term.

Ted Nugent has long been outspoken and, often controversial, in his views.  But he outdid himself in a January 2014 interview with Guns.com reporter Daniel Terrill.  He called the sitting  President of the United States of America a litany of disrespectful names to include a “subhuman mongrel”.  You can view the disgraceful video here.

CNN reporter Wolf Blitzer, along with many others, reacted swiftly to Nugent’s being a part of Abbott’s campaign rallies.  Blitzer questioned whether Abbott’s campaign knew how offensive Nugent’s remarks were to the office of the President, as well as to others who have suffered grave oppression.  Among other things, Blitzer said, “That’s what the Nazis called Jews to justify the genocide of the Jewish community,” he continued. “They called them ‘untermenschen,’ subhuman mongrels, if you read some of the literature that the Nazis put out there, there is a long history of that specific phrase he used involving the President of the United States.”

When called to task for including Nugent, a campaign aide for Abbott brushed it off saying, "The controversy is what he said in the past. We are not endorsing Ted Nugent, he is supporting us," the aide said.  That may be true that a candidate cannot control who supports him, but he can certainly control whom he invites to share the spotlight with him and who is seen as sharing like-minded views.

Wendy Davis, who will likely be the Democratic gubernatorial candidate facing Abbott called it an “insult to all Texans”.  You can read the full reactions of other politicians here.  Greg Abbott has claimed he didn’t know what Nugent represented.  Now he does know and it will be very telling to the voters if, now being aware, he keeps Nugent on as one of the faces of his campaign.

Senators' Hard Hearts: An American Farce

Photo Credit:  Doug Mills/The New York Times

Shame, Shame, Shame on the Senate of the United States of America.  Against the hard brick wall of partisan blocking, President Obama brought out the big "guns" (so to speak) of almost the only thing sure to turn hearts of stone into human hearts:  the eyes of those who had  lost loved ones in the Newtown Massacre.  And believe it or not, the Senate didn't blink.  They stood their ground against all reason.  Read, and please remember come election time, how your Senator voted. Did he/she vote in a way that really represents what you believe in?

The Senate trampled through the salty puddles of tears from the combined families with weak excuses like:

My Stomach Sank Just A Little.

“My stomach sank just a little”. These were the words spoken by a pastor Wednesday evening after President Barack Obama infamously became the first sitting American President to support same-sex marriage. I have to admit that these words also come very close to describing the tightening feeling knotted in my own gut the moment I heard the President’s interview. I’ll tell you why.

Mitt Romney...Who are you???

Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney is beginning to wear a little thin on me.  It seems like all he ever does anymore is present himself as an agent for President Barack Obama.  That’s right, I said it.  He is like an undercover mole working to make sure that President Obama’s name is mentioned so much that when people walk into the voting booth, that’s all they will remember is President Obama’s name, and therefore, awash in a sense of familiarity, vote accordingly.

"Uglier" Politics...A Sadder Day...A Lower Low Has Been Reached!

This time it's Kansas House Speaker Mike O'Neal.  Mere words cannot describe how disturbing this is!  If he was joking, it is not funny.  If he was serious....urghh.  This is the house speaker yall.  What kind of example is he setting for the people of his state?  I hope he has been put under 24-hour surveillance and is given a thorough pat down from now on when he comes anywhere near President Obama.  And to wish the innocent Obama children (who are NOT his political rivals) fatherless?  He sounds like a terribly loose cannon to be a political official.  In the words of one poster, this is frightening nuttery.

In the words of another poster, he should be recalled immediately for
Conduct Unbecoming to a Human Being

"Ugly" Politics...A Sad Day...A New Low Reached!

Good Morning everyone. This picture right here speaks 2 million words. Arizonians you need to take your governor in the corner room and give her a stern talking to about how she's representing you in front of the world. You don't stick your finger in the President's face. Wait a minute, it goes far beyond that. Even if he wasn't the President, you don't go sticking your finger in someone's face.

As adults we have learned, or should have learned by now, that we speak and communicate our points of view with our mouths and NOT our hands. She knows good and well if he had been seen wagging his finger in her face, Gloria Allred (allegedly) and every feminist women's group in the country would have been up in arms. Well that goes both ways lady! Put your hands in your pockets if you can't control yourself. Thank you.

Going Boldly Where No "Decent" Man Has Gone Before!

I am beyond appalled by an article I read this morning.  You can read the sordid details of the article here .  Even though there was no profanity used, the level of insult is exceedingly high and disturbing.
What disturbs me about the situation is that Congress member (I can’t even bring myself to call him a CongressMAN right now) Jim Sensenbrenner is setting a dangerous and insulting precedent in the already volatile world of politics.
